Register to Walk
Through walkers and section walkers
Whether you plan to walk the whole trail, cover a single island or section walk, you’ll need to register with us. As a registered walker, you’ll have access to the most up to date information, support and benefits through our trail partners. You’ll receive useful walker information via email and a merchandise pack exclusive to registered walkers.
Registrations cost NZD$60 of which $10 goes to supporting nature regeneration along the trail.
Most walkers donate at the time of registering, which is incredibly helpful for Te Araroa Trust, as a a charity, to deliver the trail improvement programme when it's needed most. The level of donation you make needs to reflect the distance you are walking and time on the trail. We return all donations back to the trail through care and repair programmes. Future walkers will appreciate your support, much like past walkers have contributed to the development of the trail so far.
New for the 2024/2025 season is The Trail Pass which provides an easy and cost effective way to pay for huts and campsites on the conservation estate, managed by The Department of Conservation (DOC). This is purchased for $195 as part of registration. You can read more about The Trail Pass here.
